Calendar of Updates

I hope that I will be able to look back on yesterday, February 3, 2001, as the day that my life changed for the better. I made my first visit to a psychiatrist yesterday afternoon; after about 45 minutes of consultation, he handed me a prescription for everybody's favorite green-and-yellow-pill antidepressant. (That's Prozac for those of you who lack a clue.) I have another appointment in two weeks, at which time the psychiatrist will monitor my progress.

Although this is of lesser importance and therefore gets the second paragraph, this next news item actually occurred in the morning, before my appointment. At about 8:40 am, a technician from MediaOne arrived at the house to install cable modem service. I have been enjoying the many benefits of a broadband connection all day. There were a few setup headaches, particularly with my parents' old computer, but those were easily resolved with one call to MediaOne. Now I have a phone down here 24/7 — until my mother decides she wants to cut that service off.

I have reached the point where I am down to the last $30 I have. Fortunately, my father is secretly (i.e., without my mother's knowledge) funneling me some money on which to survive, but it's never enough. I think I'm going to prepare my tax forms later today, calculate my refund, and ask my father to advance me the $800 or so I expect to be refunded. I doubt he'll do it, but it might be the only way I will make it until I find a job.

Other than that, it's kind of a slow weekend for me. Aside from doing taxes, I plan to do not much outside of sleeping today.
