A quick hypertext drive: Interstate 37 exists primarily to connect Corpus Christi, one of the largest cities of far southern Texas, to the rest of the Interstate system; it also facilitates commerce, as Corpus Christi is an important port. Additionally, it speeds evacuation of the lower Texas Gulf Coast region in the event of an approaching hurricane.
